Jingle Bell Walk
Join us for a 'Jingle Bell Walk' to alleviate poverty
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago's inaugural "Jingle Bell Walk" is slated for Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Lincoln Park from 4-7 p.m. The 3K walk hopes to raise funds to help those less fortunate this holiday season especially the poor, cold, and hungry.
"For many, the holiday season is a time of joy, family and the sharing of gifts. At St. Vincent de Paul, we see a different side. We see the worry and pain on our clients' faces," said Jennifer Wolff, director of development. "The 'Jingle Bell Walk' is a wonderful opportunity to enlist the help of many, to share their gifts, because we can't alleviate poverty alone. It takes a community."
Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12 years of age. Registration for the family fun event begins at 4 p.m. just south of the Lincoln Park Zoo at 1911 North Stockton Drive in Chicago. More than 1,000 walkers are expected to join in the holiday cheer including several church choirs caroling along the way. Fabulous views of the zoo and city holiday lights, refreshments, kid's crafts, and a special visit from Santa round out the festivities. All participants will receive a warm pom pom winter hat with an embroidered SVdP Chicago logo.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to pre-register at www.jinglebellwalk.com and create a fundraising page to collect pledges from family and friends.
